Burnley player interested in January move

Burnley’s meager four points from 10 Premier League games thus far may not be what Vincent Kompany would have expected from a team that walked the Championship last season, given that they have only won one of their games.

The Clarets have little break from their next away game at Arsenal, but they have a run of games following that—West Ham, Sheffield United, and Wolves—where they could gain some ground.

The striker Wout Weghorst, who is currently on loan, is one player who won’t be helping them climb the standings.

The Dutchman, who had previously been on loan at Manchester United, was sent out once more, this time to the Bundesliga team Hoffenheim, but the outcome was the same as it had been at United.

The 31-year-old has only managed one goal this season, according to WhoScored, and Weghorst isn’t thrilled with his situation, according to Turkish site Star.

Weghorst is reportedly open to overtures from Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray, who may be interested in the player’s services.

As a former Super Lig player with Besiktas, where he was a prolific scorer with eight goals and four assists in 16 games (transfermarkt), the Dutchman is well-aware of what it takes to succeed in the division.

If all parties are agreeable, there’s no reason why a deal can’t be agreed in January.
