Burnley plans to renew the contract of their best player

Josh Brownhill is being watched by multiple Premier League clubs, and Burnley is planning to exercise the option of extending his contract, sources have informed TEAMtalk.

In the first few weeks of the season, Vincent Kompany benched the team’s vice captain in favor of signing Sander Berge and pairing him with Josh Cullen. The 27-year-old, who has arguably been the team’s most reliable star thus far, swiftly made his way back into the starting lineup to highlight his value to the organization.

However, Burnley is concerned about increasing interest in their captain, as Brownhill’s current contract expires at the end of the current campaign. In fact, it’s evident that Bournemouth, West Ham, Wolves, Crystal Palace, and Manchester United are among the teams closely monitoring the former Manchester United trainee.

We can reveal that the Clarets have already made the decision to exercise their option to extend his stay at Turf Moor by an additional 12 months.

Furthermore, we’ve heard that Kompany wants to lock down the midfield player to a long-term contract at the team in an attempt to stifle the growing interest in the 27-year-old.

New Brownhill deal is a must for Kompany and Burnley

It is impossible to exaggerate Brownhill’s significance to Burnley, and Kompany is well aware of this. Brownhill, who is in his fifth season with the team, is recognized as one of the team leaders and was instrumental in Burnley’s promotion from the Championship the previous year.

Furthermore, Brownhill has scored two goals in the Premier League thus far and will probably play a significant role in Kompany’s team’s attempt to survive, even though they are currently rooted to the bottom of the league after only four points from their first 12 games.

Consequently, Kompany has communicated to the board of the Clarets that they cannot afford to put themselves in danger of losing Brownhill as the January window approaches.

His value should be protected by the contract clause, if only temporarily. However, the club intends to further extend the agreement, safeguard his value, and avoid finding themselves in a similar situation again the following year.
