Dodi Lukebakio, a Belgian forward, reportedly turned down a reputed £50,000 weekly salary from Premier League newcomers Burnley in favor of playing in La Liga.

Sevilla’s gain already seems to outweigh Burnley’s loss.

Dodi Lukebakio at his new Sevilla home has burst out of the blocks like a purebred stallion as Vincent Kompany struggles to the foot of the table.

The £8 million Hertha Berlin transfer scored the game-winning goal against Las Palmas on his debut, and he has carried his strong domestic play into the international scene.

Lukebakio netted a brace as Belgium defeated Austria 3-2 on Friday.

Losing out on Dodi Lukebakio to Burnley

Het Laaste Nieuws reported that Burnley was prepared to offer the former Watford player a £50,000-per-week contract at Turf Moor. One that would have made the forward with the high heels the highest-paid member of Kompany’s team (Spotrac).

However, as Europa League champion Sevilla entered the conversation, Kompany was forced to give up as his compatriot boarded the initial trip to Andalusia.

Lukebakio tells Marca that the reason Burnley lost out on a trade that appeared to be almost finalized earlier this summer is because Sevilla expressed interest.

You have to pay attention when a club like Sevilla expresses interest, of course. As a result, we frequently converse. Because it is a top-tier club and that is what I want, to play, to show myself, and to develop as a young player, you don’t need to consider as much.

“Choosing Sevilla was not difficult.”

His last eight games have seen four goals.

Lukebakio continues, “I was viewing a lot of YouTube videos while we spoke. “Take the time they recently won the Europa League.

“I’ve been following Sevilla, and curiosity peaked in January as well. I’m not an expert in everything, but I do know a lot about Sevilla. I enjoy watching football a lot.

So far, Burnley has only defeated fellow newcomers Luton Town once. But with an ineffective Brentford to face after the break, Kompany’s Clarets will be hoping to increase their meager point total.
