Burnley injury update before of Brentford match: Three others lack

When Burnley returns from its international break this weekend, they may welcome back a few players.

On Saturday, the Clarets go to Brentford with the intention of picking up their recent 4-1 loss to Chelsea behind them.

By then, Burnley had lost as many as six players to injury, and things became worse when Ameen Al-Dakhil had to pull out of the Belgium team during the international break.

In addition to Al-Dakhil, the following players were excluded: Michael Obafemi, Nathan Redmond, Manuel Benson, Johann Gudmundsson, Hjalmar Ekdal, and Jordan Beyer.

Al-Dakhil’s knock, meanwhile, isn’t too significant, according to Clarets manager Vincent Kompany, and there is some encouraging news with the others starting to return.

He clarified, “He [Al-Dakhil] had to withdraw because he came off against Chelsea at halftime and couldn’t continue.”

“Fortunately, the news is pretty good for us, so we need to decide by Saturday.”

“There’s quite a few players coming back,” Kompany said in reference to the other injured players.

“I believe they are in different phases, so we will have to wait the next 48 hours to determine if they’re prepared for the battle on Saturday or not.”

Beyer, who sustained an injury during the Clarets’ victory against Luton, was one player who the team unexpectedly missed against Chelsea.

The worst was what we feared, Kompany added.

“We don’t believe the extent is that great, but he’s not back yet. He’s making good recovery progress.

But this is the reason you assemble a team. The players who aren’t on the field want to demonstrate their abilities.

The absence of Beyer, Ekdal, and possibly Al-Dakhil could leave the Clarets lacking a center back, though Kompany isn’t completely in agreement with that judgment.

“I don’t think so,” he remarked.

“While it would be nice to be a little more at ease, accidents can happen. It’s not always under your control.”

“We are always optimistic as long as the players don’t miss significant portions of the season.”
