Burnley favorite manager dismissed barely a few weeks after receiving managerial award

Graham Alexander, a fan favorite at Burnley and Preston North End, is no longer in charge after being fired by Milton Keynes Dons.

There are a lot of managers out there that played for PNE while David Moyes was the manager.

The candidates are Stephen Robinson at St Mirren, Jon Macken at Witton Albion, David Healy at Linfield, and Michael Appleton at Charlton Athletic.

While Brian Barry-Murphy is in charge of Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad, Michael Jackson is the Burnley head coach.

Some of those former PNE players have undoubtedly been influenced by Moyes, but one of them recently lost his job.

Milton Keynes fires Graham Alexander Dons
Any PNE supporter who was alive in the early to mid-2000s will undoubtedly concur that Graham Alexander is the epitome of a club legend.

The fact that Alexander is still so well-liked even after moving from PNE to Burnley says a lot about how much.

Before returning for one more season in 2011, “Grezza” amassed 400 appearances during his initial stint at PNE. Remarkably, he scored with his final touch as a professional footballer, a moment that will live long in the memory of North End supporters.

The fact that Alexander moved into management elsewhere was not unexpected given his brief stint managing PNE alongside David Unsworth during that season.

Alexander has played in a variety of leagues throughout the years, including Fleetwood Town, his old team Scunthorpe United, and Salford City, where Gary Neville regretted cutting his time short.

Then, Alexander led Motherwell into the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds before leaving the team in July 2022 and taking over at Milton Keynes Dons in May of this year.

It all began for Alexander with the League Two team, working alongside his longtime assistant and former PNE defender Chris Lucketti.

Alexander was named League Two Manager of the Month after winning four of his first five games.

Since then, however, everything has gone wrong, as MK Dons have lost four of their previous eight games and drawn four more.

After Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Barrow, Alexander’s career came to an end, as MK Dons made the very unexpected announcement of his departure.

The new decision has once again left the Dons in a bind since they last made it to the League One playoffs in 2022.

We can only hope to see Lucketti and Alexander flourishing somewhere, with other teams undoubtedly interested in them after successful years elsewhere.
