Buffalo Bills and being sent to the Indianapolis Colts at the trade deadline

Zack Moss appeared to be at a career crossroads in the midst of the 2022 season, sliding down the depth chart with the Buffalo Bills and being sent to the Indianapolis Colts at the trade deadline.

However, the 26-year-old rebounded in 2023, rushing for a career-high 794 yards and five touchdowns as he took over as the top running back while Jonathan Taylor was sidelined due to injury.

Moss is now about to enter free agency, where one insider feels he has the potential to become one of the league’s “under-the-radar” stars.

Zack Moss Could Compete for Another Starting Job.

Moss struggled to find his feet in Buffalo for two and a half years. Moss had a promising first season with 481 running yards and four touchdowns, but he played through injuries in his second season and remained behind Devin Singletary on the depth chart.

By the time the Bills drafted James Cook in 2022, Moss appeared to be on his way out, with only 17 carries in five games before being dealt.

However, after a successful season with the Colts, Bleacher Report’s David Kenyon believes Moss has a shot to fight for a starting spot with a new team.

“Running backs face a competitive market, so there could be lots of free-agent steals at the position. “In particular, Zack Moss appears to be a prime low-cost candidate with the upside of a starter,” noted Kenyon.

Moss’ flexibility was demonstrated in Indianapolis last year, when he added 27 receptions for 192 yards and two receiving touchdowns. According to Kenyon of Bleacher Report, Moss might return to the Colts, but he may also be pursued by other teams.

“Along with the Colts, the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers and New York Giants would be logical destinations for Moss,” Kenyon wrote in his article. “The Cincinnati Bengals could be as well if they move on from Joe Mixon this offseason.”
