Buckeyes sign transfer TE

Ohio State has received its first transfer portal commitment.

The Buckeyes have signed former Ohio University tight end Will Kacmarek via the portal after losing out on former UCLA safety Kamari Ramsey, former Cal linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr, and Michigan State defensive lineman Derrick Harmon.

Kacmarek, a rising redshirt junior, will join the Buckeyes with two years of eligibility left. In the 247Sports transfer portal rankings, he is unranked.

Kacmarek caught 42 passes for 507 yards and two touchdowns in two seasons as a starter for the Bobcats. Twenty-two of those receptions, 243 yards, and both scores were all made in 2023.

He also gained five yards on one carry. In 2023, Kacmarek earned Pro Football Focus grades of 67.2 as a run blocker and 65.8 as a pass blocker.

Kacmarek was a defensive lineman and unranked in the 247Sports composite during his prep career at the Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School, while 247Sports had him classified as a two-star prospect and the nation’s No. 407 defensive lineman.

He will compete in a tight end group that returns backup tight end Gee Scott Jr. and rising redshirt freshman Jelani Thurman, the class of 2023’s composite No. 3 tight end. Sam Hart and Bennett Christian join incoming freshmen Max LeBlanc and Damarion Witten to round out the Buckeyes’ roster.
