Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery blasts officials after Game 3

The Boston Bruins were outplayed in almost every aspect Friday, losing their fourth consecutive playoff game at TD Garden to the Florida Panthers, who now trail their series 2-1.

Boston didn’t have much to complain about in the postgame after being severely outscored and outshot yet again.

Despite his club receiving only two power-play opportunities, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery declined to criticize officiating. The Panthers had six, with a few of them coming from a penalty Montgomery thought swayed the game.

“We weren’t very good for the first two periods,” Montgomery admitted after the game, according to team footage. “I can’t honestly argue we deserved any more power plays. We were on our way in the second period, but we were caught up in a stick-on-stick brawl for the puck. “That really changed the game.”

Mason Lohrei was cited for the penalty after catching Steven Lorentz up high and drawing blood in what turned out to be a devastating play for the Bruins. Boston’s teenage defenceman spent four minutes in the penalty box. Florida scored twice on its two power play attempts. The score was 3-0 in the blink of an eye.

That is not exactly winning hockey.

The Bruins will try to even the series in Game 4 on Sunday, with puck drop scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET at TD Garden. NESN will provide you with before and postgame coverage.
