When the Jacksonville Jaguars walked the practice field on Thursday, all eyes were on quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Although Fred Greetham pointed out, Lawrence did practice, just not very much. Jim Schwartz, the defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, mentioned at his news conference that the defense was getting ready for both the possibility of bad weather on Sunday that may affect the game and numerous quarterbacks. The Jaguars injury report include other players in addition to Lawrence, including the team’s left tackle at the moment.
Walker Little, the left tackle for the Jaguars, was hurt on the play that Lawrence did, so even if Lawrence is ready to play, Little might not be able to. He has missed both of the team’s sessions due to a right hamstring injury that caused him to trip on Lawrence’s foot. The Jaguars’ offensive line will be in a similar predicament to the Browns’, unless he can find a way to practice on Friday and appear productive enough to play.
Similar to the Browns, Anton Harrison, a rookie, is starting at right tackle for the Jaguars. Three rounds ahead of Dawson Jones, who has had a better season thus far, he was chosen in the first round, 28th overall. Cam Robinson is already on injured reserve at left tackle. His substitute was Walker Little. They will then be on their fourth tackle if he is unable to move.
Blake Hance, a former offensive lineman with the Browns, is one of the possible candidates to play left tackle if Geron Christian is unavailable. Hance, who joined the Browns during their 2020 postseason run as a left guard, has seen some action at left tackle thus far this season. Given that whoever is in the lineup will be lining up opposite Myles Garrett on Sunday, it will be interesting to see that. Garrett, for his part, had a day off on Wednesday but continued to participate fully on Thursday despite his sore shoulder. D’Ernest Johnson, a former running back for the Browns, has been sidelined due to a knee injury.
Tre Herndon, the starting slot corner for the Jaguars, had a concussion against the Cincinnati Bengals. This is not likely to be his game. Christian Kirk, the team’s best wide receiver, has already been ruled out of this game.
Three Browns players returned to practice on Thursday: Maurice Hurst, running back Kareem Hunt, and safety Juan Thornhill. After missing many games due to a calf injury, Thornhill is currently recovering. Hunt has been attempting to manage his calf ailment that was worsened against the Denver Broncos.
