Browns reveal their first 2024 preseason opponent

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings will do joint workouts this summer. Putting two and two together, it’s likely they’ll face the Vikings this preseason.

It feels like the 2023 NFL season just ended, and Cleveland Browns fans are already looking ahead to next season.

After all, the Browns are coming off one of their most successful seasons, leaving the devoted fan base hoping for even more success with a completely healthy roster this autumn.

However, before the 2024 regular season, the Browns must first complete the summer and, of course, the preseason. Although Cleveland’s exhibition schedule has yet to be revealed, Tuesday’s announcement gives us a good sense of who one of their preseason opponents could be.

Browns news: Potential first preseason opponent revealed.

According to Zac Jackson of The Athletic, general manager Andrew Berry has revealed that the Browns will return to The Greenbrier in West Virginia for this year’s training camp. Cleveland will have its second camp on the 11,000-acre property in a row, following a 10-day stay in 2023.

Berry also announced that the Browns would welcome the Minnesota Vikings for joint practices at the CrossCountry Mortgage Campus in Berea, Ohio.

Given how joint sessions typically lead to head-to-head preseason meetings, it’s safe to assume that the Browns will face the Vikings at some point during the exhibition schedule.

For context, Cleveland and the Philadelphia Eagles held combined practices in Berea two years ago before playing off in Week 2 of the 2022 preseason.

Assuming the Browns play the Vikings in the preseason, it will be the first time the teams have met since Week 4 of the 2021 season. Cleveland emerged victorious 14-7 at U.S. Bank Stadium, with to 48- and 53-yard field goals from Chase McLaughlin.

Nonetheless, Browns fans will probably have to wait a bit before the complete preseason schedule is published. Last year’s exhibition lineup was not announced until May 11, implying that we will most likely have another two months to wait before learning about this summer’s schedule.
