Browns’ position on trading for Jacoby Brissett in light of Deshaun Watson’s injury was disclosed

Due to Deshaun Watson’s ongoing shoulder problems, the quarterback position for the Cleveland Browns is a little precarious.

Watson will not play in Week 8 when the Browns visit Seattle to take on the Seahawks. While the Browns are considering their options, one of them does not include Jacoby Brissett in order to strengthen the quarterback situation.

The former quarterback with the Browns is presently a member of the Washington Commanders and serves as backup to Sam Howell. But in 2022, he was a member of Cleveland and made 11 starts while playing in 16 games for the Browns. However, according to Ben Standig of The Athletic, the Browns have no interest in adding Brissett back to the team.

Watson’s absence from the starting lineup on Sunday means P.J. Walker will be the quarterback. Walker has appeared in two Browns games, one of which he started. In Cleveland’s Week 6 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, he completed 18 of 34 passes for 192 yards. For the Browns this season, rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson has also started a game.

There is no guarantee that the Commanders will be interested in relocating Brissett before the trade deadline of October 31. Throughout his career, he has proven himself to be one of the league’s most capable backup quarterbacks.

In his ninth season of professional football, Jacoby Brissett has suit up for the Patriots, Colts, Dolphins, and Browns. With an incredible 18 to 6 touchdown to interception ratio in 2019, he completed 272 of 447 throws for 2,942 yards, marking his finest season to date. Last season, he passed for 2,608 yards with the Browns, including 12 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
