Browns Offseason: Three Big Predictions

Here are three big forecasts regarding the Browns’ 2024 offseason.

The Cleveland Browns will focus on offensive development, player acquisition, and game preparation this offseason to prepare for their next postseason run.

Everyone knows that the Browns are now a serious AFC contender, and this offseason will be critical for them in terms of bolstering and finishing off an already above-average squad.

Here are a few daring offseason moves Cleveland might make in the coming months.

The Browns trade up in the 2024 NFL Draft

Cleveland has more than enough expendable assets to make a little trade up in this year’s draft if necessary. For example, if a player they want falls between picks 43 and 50 and they can make a move to obtain him at a reasonable price, they will.

The Browns may consider Alabama DE Chris Braswell, Texas WR Xavier Worthy, or OT Kingsley Suamataia as potential draft picks.

Cleveland trades Jedrick Wills

The Browns can save $12M-14.5M in cap space this offseason by dealing Wills, depending on the timing of the transaction. That amount of cap savings is significant, and the organization is sure to find a suitor willing to trade a 6th-round selection for him. (Editor’s note: The team values him far higher than this, but Matt made bold forecasts.)

Yes, a 6th-round pick in exchange for a former first-round pick is not ideal, but it may be worthwhile for the organization’s future if it frees up that much money. They could even consider dealing him at the draft as part of one of their trade packages to move higher.

The Browns add a “big name” wide receiver

Whether through free agency or trade, Cleveland understands that they need to add another weapon to their receiving core shortly. Jacksonville’s Calvin Ridley, Arizona’s Marquise Brown, and Buffalo’s Gabriel Davis are among the notable free agents the team is likely to pursue. Watch out for Washington’s Curtis Samuel as well.

If they enter the trade market, they will certainly seek another opportunity similar to Amari Cooper’s. A player who is far more valuable than their “price tag” suggests. Andrew Berry and his team may consider targeting Deandre Hopkins or Courtland Sutton, who are nearing the end of their current contracts.
