Browns’ Injured Pro Bowl CB Ahead of Week 12

The injury report released on Friday included some positive news for the Denver Broncos.

The Denver Broncos will need a little luck with the injury bug if they hope to maintain this current momentum. Ideally, that luck should go both ways.

The Broncos must maintain maximum health, and it wouldn’t hurt for their opponents to sustain fewer injuries along the way. This is not to argue that anyone should wish Denver’s opponents bad luck, but it does improve a team’s perspective when a rival is without a key player.

With the 7-3 Cleveland Browns traveling to the Mile High City, the general health of the team could have a significant impact on the result of this contest. For what it’s worth, the Broncos received some positive news on Cleveland’s final Week 12 injury report.

Analysis:

The Broncos are depending on Locke to recover swiftly. He left the Week 10 game against Buffalo early due to an ankle injury, and he did not play in Week 11.

By a stroke of luck, Denver managed to survive the storm in Buffalo without Locke, and Kareem Jackson’s interim return from suspension coincided with Locke’s absence from Week 12. Beyond Locke, the Broncos’ safety option with Jackson back in the NFL cage are rookie JL Skinner and second-year Delarrin Turner-Yell, neither of whom has shown that he is ready to play as a starter.

This season, Turner-Yell has gotten a lot of playing time; the Broncos have suffered as a result. Locke went from not participating in Wednesday’s practice to being limited on Thursday and then fully participating on Friday, as you can see below. That is a pretty promising sign for his prospects in Week 12.

Analysis:

The Browns’ top cornerback, Ward, won’t be available. Due to a shoulder injury, the two-time Pro Bowler will not play on Sunday.

Additionally missing from Cleveland’s offense is Goodwin. However, Cleveland has a lengthy injury list as you can see. It’s the pay for a squad that gets into physical altercations with each other every week.

Maintaining that intensity of physicality has a price, and the Browns are facing several injuries and are without starting quarterback Deshaun Watson for the whole season.
