Browns have named a cornerback to return off injured reserve

The Browns’ cornerback room is beginning to heal. Cam Mitchell, a rookie cornerback, has been activated from injured reserve.

He has been on injured reserve since November 7 due to a hamstring injury.

Mitchell, a fifth-round pick out of Northwestern, has appeared in eight games with one start this season. The majority of his snaps have come on special teams, but he has also played 112 defensive snaps, largely in the slot for Greg Newsome II, his former Northwestern colleague.

The Browns are hoping to get Denzel Ward back this week as well. He’s missed the last two games due to a shoulder issue, but he’ll be back in practice on Wednesday.
