Browns defender makes open admission about his future

The Cleveland Browns have numerous personnel decisions to make for next season, both on and off the field.

In addition to a number of coaching changes, the team has several players whose contracts have ended and are about to become free agents.

One of those guys, veteran safety Rodney McLeod, recently spoke with Dawgs By Nature about football and other elements of his personal life (via Twitter).

In an exclusive conversation with DBN’s @Barry_Shuck, Browns free agent-to-be Rodney McLeod discusses Jim Schwartz, the team’s culture, returning, his clothing line, work with children, and much more. Well worth your time on this football-free Sunday:https://t.co/9vrD2QbsnU

McLeod, who signed a one-year contract with the Browns last offseason, is set to become a free agent on March 13, when free agency begins.

Despite a more limited role with the Browns, McLeod ended the season with 29 total tackles and performed admirably as a defender.

At 33 years old, McLeod is clearly nearing the end of his career and is one of many renowned veterans mulling retirement.

However, he put those notions to rest when he stated in his interview that he is not finished with football and would want not to be done with the Browns either.

He confesses that he didn’t play to his full potential last year and would like at least one more year to make up for it.

He also mentioned that if Cleveland is willing to invite him back, he would love to return in 2024.

McLeod is anticipated to draw considerable attention as a veteran with extensive playoff experience, including a Super Bowl victory with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017.

He also has a lot to prove to Cleveland, as he begins his one-year contract with the team after having the finest year of his career with the Colts in 2022, with 96 tackles, two interceptions, and a defensive score.
