The Oklahoma Sooners are monitoring several players as they recover from injuries during fall camp.

Notably, two starting wide receivers from 2023 are making their way back.

Brent Venables met with the media on Saturday and provided updates on many key players, including Andrel Anthony, Jalil Farooq, and Dasan McCullough.

Anthony, who tore his ACL in the Sooners’ victory over Texas last season, is taking part in team drills.

“(Andrel’s) been running and he looks good,” Venables added. “I don’t think he’s at full pace, but he has done one-on-ones. He has done a lot. We’ll keep moving him along as well.”

Jalil Farooq, who suffered a toe injury, is practicing. The seasoned wide out was a regular in the Sooners’ lineup in 2023. Entering his fourth season with the Sooners, they’ll most likely limit his workload to ensure he’s fully prepared for the season opening.

“Jalil’s been out there,” Venables explained. “We have not imposed any restrictions on him. By then, he’d reached 90% on several of the analytics. In the grand scheme of things, he’s precisely on track with that injury, not ahead of schedule. He’s between 15 and 16 weeks.

Venables believes that both players will be ready to go by the start of the season.

Dasan McCullough, a Cheetah linebacker, has been held out of practice due to a small toe injury, but he expects to be back in the next week or two.
