Breaking: Yankees the ideal destination for All-Star pitcher

The Yankees could use another reliever, while the Angels could deal an All-Star.

The New York Yankees are going to be exceedingly busy as the trade deadline approaches.

The trade deadline is set for July 30, but speculation has already begun to mount. New York is one of baseball’s finest teams, and at this rate, they will most certainly be buying come summer.

New York is stocked all over the roster, but adding more bullpen depth should be a priority as the deadline approaches. If the Yankees opt to trade, Matt Moore, a seasoned pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, could be a good fit.

Los Angeles has had a dismal start to the season, and now they are missing superstar outfielder Mike Trout, so things are certain to worsen. The Angels are inclined to sell, and Moore has already been touted as a trade candidate, according to FanSided’s Robert Murry.

“Among the Angels players who drew trade interest this winter include infielder Luis Rengifo, outfielders Taylor Ward and Mickey Moniak, as well as reliever Jose Suarez and catcher Matt Thaiss,” Murray said in a statement. “Relievers Matt Moore, Luis Garcia, and Adam Cimber, all signed to one-year contracts this offseason, figure to emerge as potential trade candidates as well.”

Moore is a one-time All-Star who has excelled since making the full-time move to the bullpen in 2022. The veteran had a 1.93 ERA in 63 appearances in 2022, followed by a 2.56 ERA in 50 outings last season.

He is exactly the type of guy New York might bring in to help shore up the bullpen down the stretch. Moore might add to the Yankees’ already formidable bullpen.
