Breaking: Yankees favorite to land young ace in possible blockbuster trade

New York might use some extra help in the starting rotation, so a trade could make sense.

Could the New York Yankees make a significant addition to their starting rotation in the not-too-distant future?

New York is currently the only club in baseball with 13 victories, and they have been outstanding. What makes the Yankees’ early season success even more impressive is that they have done so while not at full strength.

The Yankees have been without 2023 American League Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole, but the team has still been outstanding. New York should have him back in the not-too-distant future, but another signing could still make sense.

New York is a World Series contender, so it is not surprise that the Yankees will be buyers at the trade deadline this summer. According to Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly, the Yankees are a potential trade destination for Miami Marlins pitcher Jesús Luzardo.

“Ideal Landing Spots: (Houston Astros), Yankees, (Baltimore Orioles), (Cleveland Guardians), (Atlanta Braves), and (San Diego Padres),” he remarked. The Miami Marlins’ starting rotation has been decimated by injury, leaving left-hander Jesús Luzardo as the only hope. Assuming he’s still fit by August, he could be on another team.

“Luzardo has had an ugly start to the 2024 season, but the 26-year-old posted a 3.48 ERA and 3.40 FIP across 279 innings between the 2022 and 2023 campaigns.”
