It was surprising when OU infielder Avery Hodge announced her transfer to LSU, leaving the Sooners with a middle infield need.

Head coach Patty Gasso quickly found a replacement when BYU transfer Ailana Agbayani committed to OU on Tuesday.

Agbayani batted.424 with five home runs, a.534 on-base percentage, and a.594 slugging percentage for the Cougars in 2024.

Agbayani is anticipated to play shortstop for the Sooners. Agbayani is Gasso’s third transfer portal pledge in four days, with two more roster places to fill. Agbayani joins North Carolina catcher Isabela Emerling and Utah outfielder Abby Dayton as Sooner portal signees.

Agbayani had four hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs in a win over the Sooners on April 12.

Agbayani will have two years of eligibility left.
