BREAKING: Joe Barry’s Job is in Danger as Other clubs Eye Green Bay Packers DC Role

Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry is under fire, and it appears that the fans are not the only ones who want him out.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the “heat is on” Barry since the Packers’ defensive coordinator job is something that many other coaches will be interested in during the offseason.

“When it comes to coordinators, several positions will be closely watched in the coming weeks.” Joe Barry, the Packers’ defensive coordinator, is under fire. “That’s a job that many in the coaching industry are interested in,” Fowler wrote.

While Green Packers head coach Matt LaFleur backed his defensive coordinator and declined to remove him from defensive command, stressing that now is not the time to discuss such concerns, Joe Barry is not safe.

“Right now, we’re looking for solutions,” LaFleur said of Barry’s job status following the team’s Week 15 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “So, I’d like to return to it.” I’m heading to my office as soon as we leave here and go to work on that. Because, as I previously stated, having a home game against a club that is right in the heart of it in their division when you’re holding onto one of those positions and getting manhandled in the second half of a tight ballgame is tremendously upsetting. It’s very disappointing.”

If the Packers don’t show any indications of improvement on defense, Barry’s stint as defensive coordinator may come to an end.

Is Joe Barry’s job with the Green Bay Packers safe?

It’s unclear whether Joe Barry can do anything to keep his job. After holding the Kansas City Chiefs to 19 points in Week 13, the Green Bay Packers reverted to their old ways, allowing 24 points to the offensively weak New York Giants and 34 points to the Buccaneers.

The stats don’t lie either, with the Packers sitting 30th in the league with 138.8 running yards allowed per game. This season, they are 17th in the NFL in scoring defense.

Green Bay will face the league-worst Carolina Panthers in Week 16, and they should be able to comfortably shut them down. But if their defense continues to struggle, Barry will look horrible once more.

They will be put to the test again in Weeks 17 and 18 against their NFC North rivals, the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears. Nonetheless, anything less than a strong performance could cost Barry his job.
