Breaking: JJ McCarthy Is Earning Greater Love From NFL Teams

JJ McCarthy isn’t the first name that comes to mind when you think of the NFL Draft.

While the Michigan quarterback led the team to a national championship under Jim Harbaugh, fans believe the first choice will undoubtedly go to USC’s Caleb Williams.

However, recent sources indicate that several NFL clubs looking for a good field general are seriously considering choosing him with a high first pick. What he’s displayed during three seasons as a Wolverine may land him in an unexpected situation come April.

NFL teams like JJ McCarthy’s high ceiling, might select him high in the draft

People who are deeply invested in the 2024 NFL Draft know that Caleb Williams is the most likely candidate to go first overall. He possesses the physical tools, arm skill, and vision to make amazing passes that both scouts and fans obsess over. Despite not having played a single snap of NFL football, he has already sparked blockbuster trade rumors.

However, sources acquainted with the draft process indicate that Michigan’s quarterback demonstrated glimpses of greatness that would entice multiple teams to invest a high-value choice in him.

Chris Rosvoglou of The Spun writes on the temperature of JJ McCarthy’s draft stock:

According to NFL insider Benjamin Allbright, the league is “definitely higher” on McCarthy than the media and fans.

Allbright suggested that McCarthy could be a top-10 pick in this year’s draft. That’s possible if there’s a run on quarterbacks in April.

“League is definitely higher on McCarthy (top 10) and lower on Nix/Penix (day2/3) than media/fans according to the people I talk to,” Allbright wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

If McCarthy gets selected in the top 10, that would undoubtedly shake up the draft board for most analysts.

JJ McCarthy is a terrific addition for any team that takes a chance on him. During his junior year, he threw for 2991 yards, 22 touchdowns, four interceptions, and a 167.4 passer rating. His 6’3″, 197-lb size enables him to look over defensive lines and find his wide receiver through traffic.

His arm skill will impact his draft stock, but Brock Purdy has shown that you don’t need a powerful arm to succeed in the NFL. If he finds the right situation, he can easily defeat one good squad after another.
