Breaking: Ipswich Town has found Leif Davis replacement

Since joining Ipswich Town from Leeds United in the summer of 2022, left-back Leif Davis has become one of the club’s most significant players.

Ipswich Town signed Davis as part of a busy summer transfer window ahead of the 2022/23 season. He rapidly established himself as a crucial player for the Tractor Boys, helping them earn League One promotion in a great inaugural season.

The 24-year-old has remained an offensive threat since his promotion to the Championship. He has 14 assists in 31 league games this season, leading Kieran McKenna’s team to third place in the Championship table.

Now, maybe predictably, the Ipswich Town ace is said to be attracting interest. According to TalkSPORT, both Newcastle United and West Ham are interested in signing Davis during the summer transfer season.

Of course, only time will tell if the links provide any results. However, if the necessity arises, Harrison Burrows would make an excellent alternative.

A like-for-like replacement

Davis is Ipswich Town’s top creative threat. He excels at delivering from dead balls, but he also demonstrates potency in-game, like driving to the byline and throwing balls in, as well as swinging in from deeper areas.

Those who are familiar with Burrows’ talents will recognize this. He, too, is a standout playmaker for his current team, having scored six goals and provided 12 assists in 42 games in all competitions for Peterborough United this season. Burrows, who has played in midfield, on the wing, and at wing-back, has settled at left-back and appears to be benefiting from it.

He is only 22 years old, but he has made 169 appearances for the Posh across all competitions. That includes 37 games in the Championship, where he scored three goals and provided seven assists for a team that ultimately failed to avoid relegation.

Burrows is an important player at London Road, and his value to the team might make him quite expensive. After previously captaining the team, he has taken on the role again in the New Year, stressing his worth to Darren Ferguson’s side while also demonstrating his leadership and maturity to possible suitors.

His creative qualities may make him a suitable Davis successor if Ipswich Town lose the former Leeds United star this summer.
