Breaking: €30million star shown exit door by club amid interest from West Ham

Ferdi Kadıoğlu is furious after Fenerbahce president Ali Koç maintained he won’t be allowed to go for less than €30 million [£25.56 million], despite interest from West Ham, according to Fotospor.

The Turkish newspaper said on their website on May 31 that the Irons are one of several teams that have made an official bid for the full-back, however European giants such as Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and AC Milan have yet to make offers.

Napoli apparently made the strongest offer so far and accepted personal terms with the 24-year-old, but the total worth of their bid did not exceed €20 million [£17 million], and Koç is waiting for a major offer to let him go.

That has taken the Turkish international by surprise, given the two appeared to have agreed before of last season that he would be leaving the Istanbul club.

Jose Mourinho to take charge as West Ham target defender

With Jose Mourinho set to take over as new Fenerbahce manager [Fabrizio Romano, 31 May], it’s unclear what the former Chelsea and Tottenham manager’s presence implies for the present squad.

The president’s reluctance to allow Kadıoğlu leave for anything less than a high sum may be softened by the Portuguese’s desire to bring in their own players.

West Ham appear to be up against stiff competition for the left-back’s signing, although the deal is still open if a club is willing to pay the fee.

Aaron Cresswell recently agreed to a one-year contract extension to stay at the London Stadium during the Julen Lopetegui era [The Athletic, 21 May], and while regular starter Emerson remains in place, the club has shown interest in targets at the position for several consecutive windows.

According to Fabrizio Romano (31 May), the club appears to be on the verge of finalizing a big-money deal for Palmeiras youth Luis Guilherme, but complications with the planned Patricio Bruno deal mean that nothing is guaranteed until it is finalized.

The Hammers may not be willing to accept Kadıoğlu’s asking price due to Tim Steidten’s desire for reinforcements in various areas and the loss of a significant profit from selling Lucas Paqueta following his FA charge.
