The Kansas City Chiefs are in the process of upgrading Steve Spagnuolo’s defense and may be on the verge of adding a key player to the secondary.

Following the trade of cornerback L’Jarius Sneed earlier this offseason, the Chiefs could look to add a veteran defensive back, particularly one who can throw his weight around in run support while also pressuring the passer.

Former Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets safety Jamal Adams might be a great fit and top free agent target for the Chiefs as the 2024 season approaches.

Kansas City Chiefs Urged to Sign Jamal Adams

Adams would most certainly be the definition of a bargain bin acquisition, given that he has only been fit enough to participate in 10 games over the last two seasons and may be eager to demonstrate his ability to still play at a high level.

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell put together a list of 10 signings or trades that should happen, including the Chiefs adding Adams.

“Get him to Chiefs coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who will almost certainly find a position in the lineup for a player with Adams’ talent and blitzing abilities. Kansas City lost Mike Edwards and Willie Gay this offseason, and while the team used a fourth-round pick on safety Jaden Hicks, Adams might contend for a spot as a situational safety and linebacker. There’s a chance he won’t make the club, but given their roster, the Chiefs are looking for luxury items. I’d like to see him in camp with Kansas City if he agrees to a deal based on per-game roster bonuses.

Adams in a situational pass-rushing role as a hybrid linebacker/safety could be an intriguing weapon for Spagnuolo to use in the Chiefs’ pursuit of a third consecutive Super Bowl victory.
