Breaking: Atlanta Braves Part Ways With An Infielder

On Thursday, the Los Angeles Angels acquired infielder Luis Guillorme from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for a future prospect or monetary considerations.

The Angels placed third baseman Anthony Rendon (hamstring) on the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster.

Guillorme, 29, agreed to a one-year, $1.1 million agreement with the Braves in January after spending parts of six seasons with the New York Mets.

Guillorme is batting.150 runs and three RBIs in ten games this season. He has a career.258 hitter with five home runs and 51 RBIs in 345 games for the Braves and Mets (2018-23). Rendon, 33, was batting.267 with no home runs, three RBIs, or three stolen bases in 19 games before to the injury.

He is in the fifth season of a seven-year, $245 million contract with the Angels, but has only participated in 219 games. His 58 games in 2021 were his most in a single season while wearing an Angels uniform.
