Breaking: Arkansas QB expected to enter transfer portal

Backup quarterback Jacolby Criswell is likely to enter the transfer portal shortly after spring camp ends.

Brandon Marcello reported on Monday that the former four-star prospect will seek a new home after one season with the Razorbacks. Criswell began his career at North Carolina, where he played three years behind the Washington Commanders’ current starting quarterback, Sam Howell, and predicted first-round choice Drake Maye. He appeared in 14 games as a Tarheel.

Criswell, a native of Morrilton, Ark., was welcomed back home by Hog supporters. He rode the bench behind three-year starter KJ Jefferson, intending to take over after him. However, with the arrival of Boise State transfer Taylen Green, those aspirations dissipated swiftly. Reports from spring camp indicated that he was also in risk of losing his position as QB2. Criswell completed 17-of-27 throws for 143 yards and three touchdowns in four games during his one-year tenure at Arkansas.

Criswell will have two years of eligibility remaining with his new team. With his departure, Arkansas now has seven scholarships available for use when the spring transfer portal opens today. Sam Pittman noted that the squad plans to recruit offensive and defensive linemen, wide receivers, and linebackers.
