2025, four-star safety Lagonza Hayward (Lyons, Ga) has committed to the Tennessee Volunteers.

Toombs County safety Lagonza Hayward made it official on Saturday afternoon, picking the Tennessee Volunteers over Florida and Georgia. Hayward had toyed with a few other colleges over the summer, but Tennessee’s constant approach eventually won over.

Hayward has had a long-standing admiration for the Tennessee Volunteers, who provided his initial scholarship offer. Tennessee had been his top choice for a long time, but the official visit season brought many unexpected twists and turns to his recruiting. Throughout his junior season, the skilled defender recorded 48 tackles, three for loss, and three interceptions. He can play safety in college or advance to linebacker at the next level. Hayward stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 205 pounds. The On3 Industry Rankings place him as the top 100 talent in the 2025 class.
