Braves trade player and instantly replace him with another

After a few days off, the New York Mets are hoping to kick off a new homestand on the right foot.

They will face their NL East rivals, the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies, for five straight games beginning on Friday. At 18-18, the Mets must get off to a good start on their homestand, which will begin with a three-game series against the Braves.

When this series began, there was something special about it that piqued Mets fans’ interest in these three games against their opponents. That is not the case, as a former Met who spent his first six years in the MLB donning orange and blue is no longer with the Atlanta Braves, who have promptly replaced him with this former Met.

The Braves trade former Met Luis Guillorme and quickly find his replacement with another

The Atlanta Braves transferred former Met infielder Luis Guillorme to the Los Angeles Angels for a player to be announced later or cash, a day before his prospective return to Flushing Queens. This move comes after the Angels battled with additional injuries, including the transfer of third baseman Anthony Rendon to the 60-day injured list with a hamstring strain.

Guillorme, a Mets fan favorite known for his strong defense and lengthy beard, never had the chance in Atlanta. He had only 20 at-bats and batted.150 in ten games. With Guillorme’s brief stint with the Braves complete, the team immediately sought a replacement in another former Met.

While his time with the Mets was not as long as Guillorme’s, the Braves acquired former Met infielder Zack Short from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations, and Short will most likely replace Guillorme on the roster. Short began the season with the Mets after making the Opening Day roster, but he only appeared in 10 games for New York, hitting.111 in nine at-bats.

Short was eventually DFA’d by the Mets once J.D. Martinez joined the team, and he was moved to Boston, where he played in only two games before being DFA’d again. So, even though the Mets will not have the reunion Mets fans were hoping for this weekend, we will still have one with former Met Zack Short now an Atlanta Brave.
