The Atlanta Braves are regarded as one of the best teams in baseball, but they could use an upgrade at shortstop.
Atlanta is undoubtedly one of the top clubs in the National League. Despite numerous injuries, the Braves presently hold the National League’s top Wild Card berth. Atlanta added after the trade deadline and could make a long run this season, but they are more likely to compete for the World Series crown in 2025.
The Braves will be closer to full strength by the 2025 season, and they could even be better if they can improve at shortstop. As a result, Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer identified the Braves as one of the top choices for Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames early in free agency this winter.
“Trevor Story and Javier Báez were likewise capable two-way shortstops fresh off their age-28 seasons when they inked six-year, $140 million deals after the 2021 campaign,” Rymer pointed out. “As such, there’s a model for what Adames might be seeking for this winter.
“If that’s the case, the Brewers, who are usually frugal, will be out. Even so, his market could include large spenders who need a shortstop, such as the Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, and San Francisco Giants.”
The Braves will have money to spend, but it is too early to determine how they will do so. It would be fantastic to acquire a shortstop, and Adames would be a good choice, but it’s too early to say.
