The Atlanta Braves will be one of the most exciting clubs to follow this winter.
Atlanta has not experienced the season it planned for in 2024. The Braves hoped to compete this season after being eliminated in the playoffs in 2023. Atlanta was the top club in the regular season last year, but injuries have turned the 2024 season on its head.
The Braves are currently without Spencer Strider, Ronald Acuña Jr., Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley, and Reynaldo López, among others. Atlanta is still in playoff contention, but this has not been the Braves’ season.
Atlanta will face difficult decisions this winter, but with improved support, it should be able to compete in 2025. The Braves may need to sign a starter this winter. Max Fried will be a free agent, and Atlanta is expected to try to keep him.
If he decides to go elsewhere, the Braves should make every effort to bring superstar ace Corbin Burnes to town.
He presently pitches for the Baltimore Orioles and will be the most in-demand pitcher this winter. Burnes’ contract is expected to be worth $215 million over seven seasons.
Atlanta could afford the deal, and Burnes is worth investing in. The Braves have a lot of team-friendly contracts on their roster and are built to compete for years to come. Landing another strong starter, such as Burnes, would help the Braves get over the top.
