Max Fried is added to Atlanta’s disabled list, reducing the rotation’s depth.

The Atlanta Braves are still dealing with injury concerns. Max Fried has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to forearm neuritis, the team stated Sunday. Dylan Dodd, a left-hander, was summoned to replace Fried on the active roster.

A short Google search identifies the ailment as a deep ache that runs down the back of the forearm, sometimes to the wrist. Typically, it is accompanied by irritation when attempting to raise or grab something. Fried made 18 starts in the first half, recording a 3.08 ERA and 3.54 FIP. He pitched a scoreless inning for the National League at the All-Star Game last week. Fried was supposed to start Sunday’s game against the Cardinals, but that was postponed due to the rain on Friday. Fried’s placement is retroactive to July 18.

Dodd made his major league debut with the organization last season, but has spent the whole 2024 season with Gwinnett, where he has participated in 17 games and has a 4.99 ERA and 4.59 FIP in 83 innings. Dodd was removed from The Stripers’ scheduled start on Saturday and might start one of Atlanta’s upcoming games against the Cincinnati Reds if necessary.
