Braves Considered Suitors for Mets Starter Following Spencer Strider’s Injury

The Atlanta Braves have been identified as a potential suitor for a New York Mets pitcher following Spencer Strider’s UCL surgery.

The New York Mets have rebounded from a rough start, winning four of their last five games. The Mets were anticipated to struggle this season, and that has largely been the case.

Even if New York made comparable moves as they did in the summer last year, winning the National League East would be difficult. However, winning the division in 2024 may be simpler, as Atlanta Braves pitcher Spencer Strider underwent UCL surgery and will be sidelined for the rest of the season.

It’s a major setback for the Braves and all baseball fans, as the right-hander is widely regarded as the best in the game.

Bleacher Report’s Zachary D. Rymer identified ten various teams’ requirements, with Atlanta in particular in need of a top-tier starting pitcher.

Rymer mentioned four potential suitors, including Jose Quintana of the Mets.

Quintana, 35, has pitched well to begin the season, with a 3.45 ERA in 15 2/3 innings. He faced with an ailment in 2023 that limited him to just 75 2/3 innings pitched, but he performed admirably in his limited time, posting a 3.57 ERA.

It would be shocking to see New York trade someone to the Braves, but if the return is what the front office is seeking for, it is certainly a possibility.

Quintana will be eligible for free agency at the conclusion of the season, providing the Mets an incentive to trade the left-hander.

This is a heavy blow for Atlanta, but New York will assist them out in this predicament.
