Tyler Matzek was traded to San Francisco on Monday night, along with Jorge Soler and Luke Jackson, who returned to Atlanta.

The Atlanta Braves re-signed two players of the organization’s 2021 World Series team, including the World Series MVP, and traded another with San Francisco.

The Braves announced Monday night that they have re-signed outfielder Jorge Soler, who hit.300 with three home runs in six games and won World Series MVP in 2021, as well as reliever Luke Jackson.

Tyler Matzek, a postseason hero that year, led the Braves out of one of their most precarious situations in the NLCS against the Dodgers. Minor league infielder Sabin Ceballos was also on the roster.

As part of the transaction, the Braves designated right-hander Darius Vines for assignment.

Soler, whose majestic home run in the third inning of Game 6 in 2021 helped the Braves win the series, signed with the Miami Marlins following that season and then with San Francisco prior to this season. He’s hitting.240/.330/.419 this season, with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs. He has 36 home runs in Miami last year.

Jackson, meanwhile, has a 5.40 ERA in 35 innings after posting a 2.97 ERA in 33 1/3 innings last year.

Matzek returned this year after missing the entire 2023 season, but only threw short in April and May before being re-injured. His work to dig the Braves out of a seventh-inning jam in Game 6 of the NLCS, which they eventually won to advance to the World Series, was one of the postseason’s most memorable moments.

On X, Matzek’s wife Lauren posted a thank-you message to Braves fans.

The deal Monday night marks the Braves’ latest reuniting move, following the signing of Eddie Rosario, the 2021 NLCS MVP, after he was released by the Washington Nationals earlier this month.

The MLB trade deadline is Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. ET, so the Braves still have time to strengthen a squad that has been plagued by injuries this season.
