Boost for Kompany, an “outstanding” Burnley player is suddenly well after being sidelined for months

Burnley received a fitness boost over the international break thanks to the return of a “outstanding” player.

With only one victory through their first eight Premier League games, the Clarets and Vincent Kompany have struggled thus far this season. Prior to the international break, five Burnley players were hurt and were unable to play in the team’s 4-1 loss against Chelsea.

While Darko Churlinov has been sidelined indefinitely owing to a health concern, Hjalmar Ekdal, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Manuel Benson, Michael Obafemi, and Nathan Redmond all missed the game at Turf Moor due to injuries. The attacker was taken to the hospital in June while serving abroad with possible blood poisoning, and in August, Kompany commented on the player’s condition:

It’s incredibly encouraging. We were prepared for the worst in terms of a lengthy absence from the field, but his recovery has been nothing short of amazing. I can’t tell you when it will happen, but if things continue as they are, he will return to being fully fit. I’m hoping I’ll be able to change my response by the time you ask the same question next month.

With Matt Scrafton of The Burnley Express providing a recent report on Churlinov’s fitness, it now appears that there has been a good progression surrounding the player. He shared information on his weekend appearance for Macedonia versus Ukraine in a Euro 2024 qualifying match, in which he played the full second half.

Churlinov made his first appearance of any kind since playing for Burnley in a match against Reading last year. This development is viewed as a positive for Kompany and the Clarets.

Churlinov, who joined Burnley last summer, has played in an incredible ten different positions over the course of his career. The 23-year-old has had a challenging season, appearing for the Clarets in just 13 games in all competitions while going without a goal or an assist. (Transfermarkt statistics for Darko Churlinov)

The dynamic attacker, though, has certainly won over Kompany, who described him as “outstanding” after a transfer was completed last year.

Darko has a great work ethic and a winning mentality. He is an attacking player.

Churlinov, who is primarily a left winger, has a transfer value of €2.2 million according to Transfermarkt, which has recently decreased as a result of his absence. Kompany will be hoping he can get his career back on track with the Clarets, looking to rediscover his form for Schalke where, before joining Burnley, he provided goals and assists in the 2. Bundesliga.
