In the short term, Blues supporters might benefit from Paik Seung-ho, a South Korea international, moving to Birmingham, but a cascading effect could make them feel like they have seen this all before.

Seung-ho, 26, has played for two stints in Europe with German team Darmstadt and Spanish team Girona. Currently, he plays for K-League team Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

The midfield player, who has 15 caps for his country, has been linked to a move to the Second City and would be a great coup for the Midlands team. He has also seen an increase in recognition following stints in La Liga and the 2. Bundesliga.

History may repeat itself
