Birmingham City to part ways with 2022 signing as he…

Birmingham City are ‘expecting’ Juninho Bacuna to leave this summer, according to BirminghamLive.

Birmingham City have left the midfielder behind after flying to Austria for their pre-season training camp. He is apparently in talks with Turkish Super Lig club Sivasspor about a possible move to Turkey, and they had an offer approved for him last weekend.

Bacuna, 26, is under contract with the Midlands club until June 2026, so he still has one year left on his contract. They risk losing him for free in 12 months if they don’t cash in on him now or in January, presuming he doesn’t sign an extension soon.

According to BirminghamLive’s most recent report on his status, the Blues anticipate that he will depart soon. His approaching departure would free up space and funds in their ranks, allowing for more fresh entrants.

Birmingham City were certain to lose a few players following their relegation to League One.

Bacuna joined them in 2022 and has been a crucial player ever since.

He has made 111 appearances across all competitions and scored 13 goals, nine of which came last season.

The 29-cap Curacao international previously represented Holland before switching allegiances.

He began his senior career at FC Groningen and quickly rose through the ranks before being enticed by Huddersfield Town to move to England.

Bacuna then played 107 games for the Terriers and scored 12 goals.

Rangers enticed him to Scotland in 2021, but he only stayed for six months before being re-signed by Birmingham City.

What next for Birmingham City man?

Most signs lead to Bacuna joining Sivasspor in Turkey’s top division.

They have already signed Alex Pritchard from the Blues and now want his partner.

Modou Barrow, an ex-Swansea City and Reading winger, and Rey Manaj, a former Watford striker, both play for them.
