Birmingham City has accepted a proposal from Turkish club Sivasspor for midfielder Juninho Bacuna, BirminghamLive understands.

Bacuna has been given permission to speak with Sivasspor over the weekend and complete his transfer from St Andrew’s. As a result, the 26-year-old will not travel to Austria with the Blues.

Bacuna, a Curacao international, joined the Blues from Rangers in January 2022 and appeared 111 times in his two-and-a-half seasons in B9. He scored nine of his 13 goals for the club during the 2023/24 season, when Blues were relegated from the Championship.

Blues previously sold Alex Pritchard to Sivasspor this summer, and they have now agreed to another deal with the team that placed seventh in the Super Lig last season.

New Blues manager Chris Davies has various choices in the areas where Bacuna operates, and he signed Swedish winger Emil Hansson to his squad on Friday. Hansson is one of four new additions for the Blues as they prepare for League One.

Bacuna will be the 13th senior member of last season’s side to leave, after Pritchard, six out-of-contract players, and five loanees.
