The latest on Siriki Dembele’s future at Birmingham City, as Blackburn Rovers express interest.

Blackburn aren’t the only team interested in signing Birmingham winger Siriki Dembele this summer.

Several other Championship teams, albeit unnamed, have contacted Blues to show their interest and are vying for his signature, Birmingham World knows.

Dembele was out of sorts in the second half of last season because his effort rate was not up to par, as former head coach Tony Mowbray admitted amusingly. As a result, Birmingham were willing to let him go for the appropriate price this summer – but their stance has shifted slightly.

Dembele is said to have put in significantly more effort this preseason, impressing new manager Chris Davies, who had heard conflicting stories from the previous season. Although the club will continue to consider bids, Davies is content to keep Dembele if he maintains his present form.

Davies made it clear early on at Birmingham that he will not accept bad work ethic, so Dembele must have done a lot to get himself back in the good graces.

During his first season with the Blues, the 27-year-old scored six goals, standing out in victories over Huddersfield Town and Blackburn. Despite the shifting circumstances described above, the latter, now controlled by former Birmingham manager John Eustace, would prefer to reconcile with Dembele.
