Birmingham City released  recruitment message following ‘big appointment’

Birmingham City have selected Spurs coach Chris Davies as their next manager, and the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.

The 39-year-old has signed a four-year contract and will take over immediately, succeeding the ailing Tony Mowbray, who stepped down on May 21.

Blues fans have already weighed in on the choice to hire the former Celtic, Liverpool, and Leicester City coach over more well-known candidates such as Alex Neil, Liam Rosenior, and Frank Lampard.

Davies, the Blues’ third permanent manager of the Knighthead period following Wayne Rooney and Mowbray, has been tasked with both guiding the club back to the Championship and doing so in a manner consistent with the owners’ frequently expressed aim.

Fans are confident in the Watford-born Welshman’s ability to complete the job. They have passed judgment on the appointment on social media…

Chris O’Brien: Amazing appointment! Bold, ambitious, exciting and refreshing from the usual suspects. Season tickets, new players and we’re off! KRO

Adam: Huge appointment. We believe, gaffer.

Gary Morgan: Great appointment. High ceiling to not just come back, but come back better.

Brandon: This is either gonna go extremely well and be a massive success, or it’s gonna blow up and go down in flames. I hope it’s the first one.

Dean William Smith: A great and very exciting appointment. Giving someone different a chance and not reverting to one of the same old names. Let’s get behind him now.

Robbie Michaels: OMG – genuinely delighted by this. Let’s support him one million percent. He is the right man for us.

Mark Jackson: Brilliant news, just the type of progressive coach we need. Well done Blues.

Mark Ivory: Welcome Chris! Don’t know enough about him, but gets my full backing and hopefully backed in the transfer market so we have a great season. Mentally, we have to change around the club to a winning team #KRO

Tony Edmond: Great appointment. Left field, but I really think this will work. Recruiting the right players and getting rid of any players who are not prepared to fight for the badge.

Andy Ballard: Really excited by this as we need to put together almost a whole new squad, then he will have a blank canvas to paint his ideas. I am sure he will have Ange Postecoglou to bounce ideas off. If he brings the kind of football he coached at Celtic and Spurs, then it’s brilliant .

Dan Smith: Banger of an appointment! Welcome gaffa!
