Birmingham City player live the club during the summer transfer window

Several first-team players left Birmingham City during the summer transfer window to help support the entrance of new arrivals.

The Blues have been known in the past to move players on for the right money, and the summer transfer window at the start of this campaign was no different.

Birmingham saw both Tahith Chong and Jobe Bellingham leave the club this summer, with the former being the more expensive exit, allowing the Blues to reinvest that money in the squad for new additions.

Tahith Chong’s spell with Birmingham City

Chong began his career in his native Netherlands with Feyenoord before joining Manchester United in 2016.

The midfielder remained with the Premier League club until 2022, during which time he made a handful of appearances and went on loan to European clubs and Birmingham.

Following his loan spell with the Blues in 2021/22, Chong signed a permanent contract with the club that summer.

The 24-year-old impressed in his first season, scoring once and providing three assists. But when Chong joined the Blues on a permanent basis, he elevated his game, scoring four goals and recording five assists.

Unfortunately for Birmingham, Chong only stayed with the club for a season after signing permanently, as Premier League newcomers Luton Town came knocking and bought the winger for an unknown sum.

Tahith Chong’s tenure with Luton Town so far

Tahith Chong, who had only joined Birmingham the previous summer, jumped at the chance to join Premier League club Luton Town.

The former Manchester United player has been a regular for the Hatters this season, hoping to help the team avoid relegation and remain in the Premier League for another season.

Chong has appeared in 20 of Luton’s 25 league games, eight of those as a starter.

The midfielder started the club’s first four league games of the season, but after the defeat to Fulham, he quickly lost his spot in the team and has since been in and out of the starting.

Chong has only scored two goals in a Luton shirt as of this writing, one of which came in a 1-1 tie with Liverpool earlier this season. The other goal came in the FA Cup third-round replay against Bolton Wanderers, where they won

This is Chong’s first taste of Premier League football, as he was never given the opportunity at Old Trafford, and the midfielder hopes to stay in the division beyond this season.

Tahith Chong’s Luton career is only in its early stages, but he has performed admirably thus far and will be eager to grow even further.

This has been aChong has experienced a significant increase in playing time at Birmingham and Luton during the past few seasons. So, the midfielder is improving, and he hopes that his time at Manchester United will benefit him in the future.

The 24-year-old will want to enhance his ability to score goals and create opportunities for his teammates, as Luton need their best players to step up as they attempt to avoid relegation.
