Layla Banaras, a Birmingham City defender, has signed a dual registration agreement with FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division team Wolverhampton Wanderers for the 2024/25 season.

The Blues confirmed the agreement in a post on their official club X account this afternoon.

Banaras entered Birmingham City’s Regional Talent Centre (RTC) at the age of eight and worked her way up through the Blues’ youth ranks to the first squad. The adolescent made her senior debut for the Midlands club in an Adobe Women’s FA Cup match against Huddersfield Town during the 2022/2023 season.

Banaras has remained in and around Birmingham City’s first-team squad since her senior debut, though she has yet to play more games. The teenager requires a run of games to continue her development, which she will now get in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division with Wolverhampton Wanderers this season.

The teenager returns to Wolves after spending a brief period with Dan McNamara’s side last season. Banaras spent the second half of the season with the club, where she made 10 appearances.

Banaras might make her second appearance for Wolves in today’s FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division opening against Stourbridge.
