Birmingham City intends to see off interest in order to keep possession of the star

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Birmingham City is seeking to deflect attention from Ipswich Town in order to keep Jay Stansfield.

Stansfield is on loan at Blues from Premier League side Fulham and started Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Swansea City in the Championship.

The Fulham man has caught the attention of Ipswich Town, who have made adding firepower a priority during this month’s transfer window.

Kieran McKenna’s team are optimistic that they will be able to persuade Fulham and Stansfield to transfer their loans to Portman Road.

Birmingham, on the other hand, is determined to keep Stansfield.

The Blues have even hired Stansfield’s brother as a member of their backroom team.

There is a deadline in the January transfer window for Fulham to recall Stansfield from his loan at Birmingham.

The timing is unknown, but Birmingham is said to be calm about the issue involving a recall trigger.
