Birmingham City Injury Update: Alex Pritchard and George Hall’s Situation Improves Ahead Of Ipswich Match

Birmingham City’s injured list is getting shorter as captain Dion Sanderson returned to training last week.

The centre-back returned to his colleagues after missing three weeks due to an ankle injury that kept him out of games against Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield Wednesday, and Blackburn Rovers. Sanderson missed the Blues’ triumph over Sunderland on Saturday but might return against Ipswich Town this weekend.

“Dion is back in training now. He tells me he is not far away. “It gives us more options,” Blues boss Tony Mowbray stated last week.

Alex Pritchard is the Blues’ most serious injury concern heading into their meeting at Portman Road. The 30-year-old playmaker has missed the Blues’ last three games owing to a calf injury.

Alex Pritchard

Injury: Calf

Pritchard missed Sunderland’s reunion on Saturday. Pritchard, who joined the Blues in January, was substituted at half-time during his debut against West Bromwich Albion. He hopes to return before the end of February.

Mowbray stated (February 15): “I was watching Pritch at the gym today, side-footing volleys on these large bands that they put around their waists for resistance. He is getting there. His next step will be back on the field, followed by rejoining the team.”

Possible return: Ipswich (a), February 24

George Hall

Injury: Hamstring

Hall has returned to training after missing 10 months due to four consecutive hamstring ailments. Hall is expected to return soon. He recently played 45 minutes for Blues’ under-21s against Fleetwood.

Possible return: TBC

Alfie Chang

Injury: Knee

Chang suffered a major ACL injury during a training session in August and is anticipated to miss the rest of the season. The 21-year-old, who recently signed a new three-year contract with the Blues, has been training with the club’s physios in the gym and has begun cycling to boost his fitness.

Possible return: TBC
