The Birmingham City legend passed away last year aged 69
Birmingham City icon Trevor Francis allegedly left his estranged sons out of his will.
Francis, Britain’s first £1 million footballer, died at the age of 69 in July last year. He died of a heart attack while at his holiday house in Marbella.
Francis was a prolific forward best known for winning two European Cups with Nottingham Forest in 1979 and 1980. He made 626 career appearances and scored 231 goals.
He is recognized as one of the Blues’ greatest ever players. He spent nine years at St Andrew’s, making 330 appearances and scoring 133 goals before making a historic move to Forest in 1979.
Family fued
According to sources, Francis left £1.9 million in his will, but his estranged sons were not mentioned in it. His wife, Helen, died of cancer two years ago.
Francis has given his British properties to his brother Ian and sister Carolyn. According to The Sun, Francis stated in his will: “I desire to make it clear in this my will that I have not included my children as beneficiaries because we have been estranged as a result of family issues over the last many months.
“Neither of my children are financially dependent on me.”
The football icon’s two sons, James and Matthew, did gather in Marbella last year to pay tribute to their father for his funeral.
