Birmingham City has nine major transfer decisions to…

The latest Birmingham City news from BirminghamLive contains a summary of first-team players’ contracts at St Andrew’s.

Birmingham City are set for another hectic summer of transfer activity, with no fewer than nine players out of contract in 2024.

First-team regulars John Ruddy, Ivan Sunjic, Keshi Anderson, and club captain Lukas Jutkiewicz are among those whose contracts expire in six months. Experienced players Neil Etheridge, Marc Roberts, Gary Gardner, and Scott Hogan will all see their contracts expire in July.

Tony Mowbray appointed as Birmingham City's new manager

Tony Mowbray signed three new players in January: Andre Dozzell (loan), Paik Seung-ho, and Alex Pritchard. A larger renovation is scheduled in the summer months, which will be partially supported by contracts that are going off the books.

Many of them out of contract are on expensive pre-pandemic contracts issued by former CEO Xuandong Ren before Blues cut their cloth. Find out when the Blues’ contracts expire below.

2024

Neil Etheridge, John Ruddy, Marc Roberts (option), Kevin Long, Marcel Oakley, Ivan Sunjic, Gary Gardner, Keshi Anderson (option), Scott Hogan, and Lukas Jutkiewicz.

Six of those who will be out of contract next summer are over the age of thirty. While several have options to extend, including Keshi Anderson, who joined the club on a free transfer in July, the Blues are poised to release a number of the aforementioned players.

Ivan Sunjic, 26, has been one of the Blues’ most important players this season, but he will almost certainly have to accept a big pay cut if he wants to stay beyond next summer. Ruddy, an experienced goalkeeper, has been on short-term contracts since turning 30 and might stay if he impresses Mowbray.

2025: Jordan James (optional), Koji Miyoshi, and Juninho Bacuna.

Crucially, the Blues have the option to extend Jordan James’ contract by another year. James drew substantial interest during the January transfer window, and the Blues are expecting more bids in the summer. According to BirminghamLive, Koji Miyoshi’s contract includes the potential for an extension.

The 2026 roster includes Manny Longelo, Ethan Laird, Josh Williams, Krystian Bielik, Siriki Dembele, George Hall, Alfie Chang, Alex Pritchard, and Paik Seung-ho.
