Birmingham City consider move for Championship goal stopper

Birmingham City are considering signing Burnley goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell this summer, according to The Mirror.

Birmingham City are preparing their players for life in League One after being relegated last season.

Many people were surprised to see the Blues crash out of the Championship.

Birmingham City were in and around the top six at the start of the season under John Eustace, but his resignation and the appointment of Wayne Rooney led to a decline in their performance.

They were demoted on the final day and are preparing for the third division under new manager Chris Davies.

Peacock-Farrell spent last season on loan in Denmark. He appeared in 28 games for the Danish top-tier team across all competitions, keeping 11 clean sheets.

The 27-year-old is nearing the final year of his Burnley contract, having appeared in only 24 games since signing in 2019.

His future is unknown upon his return to Turf Moor, but Birmingham City are interested in making a move to add another goalkeeper to their roster.

The best move

Peacock-Farrell is currently only getting regular playing time as he leaves on loan.

The former Leeds United shot stopper could benefit from a permanent transfer away, allowing him to settle down and focus exclusively on football.

Davies might benefit from adding Peacock-Farrell to his squad since he is not only a more than capable goalkeeper, but he also brings vital experience at this level.

An immediate return

Birmingham City is taking a risk this summer, but they hope to be promoted at the first opportunity this season.

However, the Blues cannot afford to make mistakes in their summer business, and failing to be promoted this season could lead to troubles later on.

League One isn’t the easiest division to learn. Several large clubs have previously been caught off guard and have taken their time returning to the Championship. Promotion this season is feasible, but they must approach it correctly.
