Birmingham City Boss Sends Message To Key Man Amid Transfer Interests

Birmingham City’s midfielder Paik Seung-ho has been linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers, but Chris Davies wants players to think past relegation.

Paik Seung-ho, a Birmingham City midfielder, is attracting interest from Championship club Blackburn Rovers and previous manager John Eustace. Paik only joined the club in January under Tony Mowbray, but he made an immediate impact in the middle of the park, especially when Mowbray was losing control of the squad before his diagnosis.

Paik scored on the final day of the season, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win over Norwich City, which was insufficient to keep the Blues in the Championship, and his future, along with that of Krystian Bielik and Jordan James, is likely to come under scrutiny as clubs from other leagues consider moves. According to the Sun, one of these sides is Blackburn.

Rovers, under Eustace, were in the relegation zone on the penultimate day, along with Blues, Plymouth Argyle, and Sheffield Wednesday, but they defeated champions Leicester City to seal their safety at the cost of Blues. The message from new manager Chris Davies to any Blues player considering his options following relegation is straightforward.

“I’ve had a couple of conversations, but more will happen in the next few weeks when the players return,” he told BirminghamLive this week, when asked about Paik and Bielik’s futures, among others. “My message to the players is that I am a symbol of just that. I could be a manager in the Championship right now, or even higher, but I’ve chosen to join a club on the rise.

“It’s my responsibility to make the vision, the concept, and where we’re going with this very obvious to them so they understand that, sure, we’re in League One, but we’re going somewhere, and you want to be a part of that. That is exactly the message I intend to convey to those athletes who may be assessing where they are now in comparison to where they want to go.”
