Before the deadline, Ipswich Town and Luton Town are vying for a German striker.

With the signing of Ali Al-Hamadi, Ipswich is now searching for a new striker.

After acquiring Ali Al-Hamadi, Ipswich is currently looking for a new striker.

The Premier League and Europe are interested in signing Jessic Ngankam, a striker for Eintracht Frankfurt, to Ipswich Town.

Fussball.News reports that Ipswich is considering signing Ngankam to a temporary contract for the remainder of the season. However, Luton Town of the Premier League and Royal Antwerp of Belgium will be rivals.

Ngankam is reportedly being demoted at Frankfurt since the German Bundesliga team has already brought in striker Sasa Kalajdzic on loan from Wolves this month and has been strongly connected to PSG’s Hugo Ekitike.

Ngankam, who only joined Frankfurt in the summer, was formerly a Germany U21 international.

His professional career began at Hertha Berlin, where he made his team debut in May 2020.

Due to his difficulty getting consistent playing time in Berlin, the 23-year-old decided to sign a loan with another German team Greuther Furth, who was playing in the Bundesliga at the time, for the 2021–2022 season.

Still, he would only play in six league games that season, with two goals.

At the end of that season, Furth exercised their option to purchase him permanently, but Hertha Berlin signed him back that same summer.

He made 18 appearances for Berlin last season and scored four goals, but it was insufficient. For the first time in ten years, they were relegated to Bundesliga 2 football after finishing last in the Bundesliga.

In the summer of 2023, Ngankam relocated to Frankfurt, where he is currently a member. He has struggled to get consistent playing time this season, making only two starts out of 15 league appearances without scoring.

The story of Ipswich’s pursuit of a striker during this window is widely known.

George Hirst, the first-choice striker for the Tractor Boys, sustained a hamstring injury that will probably keep him out of the lineup until close to the end of the campaign.

This meant that Ipswich’s sole choices were Kayden Jackson and Freddie Ladapo, neither of whom had shown themselves at the Championship level thus far.

Since then, Ladapo has moved on to sign a loan with Charlton Athletic, while Ipswich quickly signed AFC Wimbledon’s Ali Al-Hamadi.

However, since he is moving up two divisions, it is not reasonable to expect him to start working right away. Al-Hamadi will need some time to adjust to the level.

Ipswich therefore require a line leader, and they have tried in vain to get Blackburn Rovers forward Sam Gallagher.

Ngankam positions himself as a good player with a low cost alternative to Ipswich.

His height is six feet, and he is a powerful and aggressive striker. He is similar to Hirst in that he is eager to push and ranks highly for defensive actions for Frankfurt thus far this season.

Because Ngankam has not had many consistent starts throughout his career, it is difficult to evaluate him fairly. But obviously there’s something there, and it may prove to be a very wise signing if Ipswich were to offer him regular football.
