Before picking the Blues, Wayne Rooney disclosed a significant offer

Birmingham City has lately drawn notice after making the contentious choice to fire John Eustace and replace him with Wayne Rooney.

The Blues were in the air thanks to Eustace, who guided them up the right side of the table this season after steadying the ship and ensuring a reasonably comfortable survival in his debut campaign amid lots of off-field difficulties.

Birmingham does, in fact, currently hold a play-off spot, which is no small accomplishment in a division that has a higher sense of quality and competition this season.

The obvious animosity that followed his firing is understandable, and there isn’t much excitement about Rooney either, but he managed to pull that off while also connecting with the fans and making some great summer additions.

Rooney took the position after leaving his position as manager of MLS team DC United, marking his first return to English football in a year. Prior to that, he was in charge of Derby County.

But things might have turned out differently.

Prior to his employment at St. Andrew’s, Rooney did not lack for interest, and he has disclosed that he received offers from Saudi Arabia. Rooney’s future in the United States had been uncertain for a considerable amount of time.

Wayne Rooney, the manager of Birmingham City, expresses interest in Saudi Arabia.

Garry Cook, the current CEO of the Blues, first expressed interest in bringing the manager to the Middle East when serving as the Saudi Pro League’s CEO from January to June.

He would have become the newest well-known player to join a league that has shown off its financial might by signing players like Sadio Mane and N’golo Kante in addition to Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo.

It’s not only players either, as Steven Gerrard, Rooney’s former England teammate, is currently in charge of Al-Ettifaq.

In his opening news conference for Birmingham on Thursday afternoon, Rooney addressed the probable change, telling reporters: “I thought for my development that my journey was different way.

“That is no disrespect to any manager that has gone out there, by the way.”

Cook acknowledged “discussing” Saudi Arabia with Rooney, but he said it wouldn’t happen.

Did Wayne Rooney make the correct choice when he turned down a Saudi Arabian offer?

It’s no secret that joining Saudi Arabia’s project has its benefits, and many footballing personalities have found the unheard-of financial windfall on offer to be too alluring to pass up.

Rooney had the option of leaving for a lucrative salary, but you have to admire him for sticking with it out to find work in England.

After a rocky year with Derby, he obviously has something to prove on these shores, and the Championship is the perfect league for him to do so.

Although it may not be the appointment that Blues fans had hoped would take place, Rooney believes it to be a fine gig and a better option for his coaching career than going to Saudi Arabia.
