Bears have placed star on injured reserve, thereby saying bye for the season

With a calf injury, the Bears placed center Lucas Patrick on injured reserve, effectively ending his season.

Patrick, 30, has appeared in 16 games this season, 15 of which he started. Dan Feeney will presumably start at center in his place. The Bears also activated Illinois center Doug Kramer from the practice squad.

We have made the following roster moves:

  • Placed Lucas Patrick on IR
  • Signed Greg Stroman Jr. to the active roster
  • Flexed Doug Kramer and Christian Matthew from the practice squad to the active roster

Patrick was signed by the Bears from the Green Bay Packers two seasons ago on a two-year, $8 million contract. This offseason, his contract will expire, making him a free agent. That means Patrick may have played his final game for the Bears.

The Bears will complete their season against the Packers, which has enormous consequences for the future.
